Not getting enough sleep hours that your body needs leads to puffiness and under-eye circles. The hours of sleep vary from person to person, therefore, it is important to sleep at least 8 hours or until you feel rested. In addition, you can put an extra pillow under your head so that you reduce puffiness. Another contributing factor is the sun. In other words, you need to put a SPF lotion every time you expose your skin to UV rays. Moreover, if you are allergic to something, you should ask your doctor for a prescription allergy medication, so that you prevent the formation of further bags under the eyes.

DIY Remedies

Hemorrhoid cream is recommended because it diminishes the effects of dark circles. If the cream seems to have a strange smell and dries the skin, you can add some moisturizer. Another good remedy is to apply cold packs or cold spoons placed on your eyes for about few minutes every few hours or 3 times a day.

Drugstore and dermatologist treatments

If when pressed, your under eye circles get lighter it maybe a serious matter, because blood vessels could be very close to the skin layer. In this case, you have to apply a cream that contains retinoid in order to produce the collagen that the skin needs. So, you need to buy a cream rich in hydroquinone, licorice extract or kojic acid.  In extreme situations, such as when you notice hollow spaces under your eyes ask a dermatologist about hyaluronic-acid injections, known to reduce the sunken look.

Cover up

If no remedy offers you the expected results and the dark circles still persist, you have one more option to hide them: make-up. Market is full of concealers for every skin tone. For blue-tinged circles you must use a peach concealer, for purplish circles you can use a yellow concealer and for red bags you may use green-toned concealers. First you should apply a color correcting primer and eye shadow before applying concealer, which should be applied in small quantities, so that your face will not look fake and painted.
